Chocolate Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

Dairy-free, gluten-free, refined sugar-free, nut-free, & oil-free

Chocolate Cupcakes with “Cream Cheese” Frosting


Chocolate Cupcakes:

-1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce

-3/4 cup pure maple syrup

-1/4 cup coconut sugar

-2 teaspoons vanilla

-2 eggs *could try flax eggs if egg-free

-1/2 cup coconut milk

-1/2 heaping cup of cocoa powder

-1/2 tablespoon baking soda

-1/2 teaspoon baking powder

-1/4 teaspoon salt (I use Himalayan)

-1/4 cup coconut flour

-1/4 cup arrowroot flour


Cream Cheese Frosting:

-16 oz. cream cheese, lactose-free cream cheese, or vegan cream cheese (Plant-Based Open Nature Tastes the best in my opinion, the cream cheese taste isn’t too strong)

-6 Tablespoons pure maple syrup (or more-to taste)

-2 teaspoons vanilla extract (to taste)


Chocolate Cupcake Directions:

1. Set the oven to 350°F.

2. Mix all the cake ingredients together with a whisk.

3. Spoon the batter about 3/4 full into a cupcake pan filled with cupcakes liners.

4. Bake for 16-20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.


Cream Cheese Frosting Directions:

1. Whip all the ingredients together with a handheld mixture.

2. Pipe onto cooled cupcakes
