Grad School Decision!
I will be working on my M.S in Integrative and Functional Nutrition starting next month so that afterwards I can become a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS).
Aside from a Registered Dietitian (RD) a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) is the only other type of nutrition professional that can become licensed (depending on the state) to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). I chose this route because it is heavily based on functional and integrative approaches which align with my goals, passions, and interests. I do love being a nutrition and holistic health coach and I will continue to be, but in the end I want my scope of practice to be a little larger ❤️🩹
I want to specialize in helping women who have been previously failed by the medical system get their life back and children/teens prevent issues and get down to the root cause before it snowballs into something more with bigger issues like it did for me.
Many patients especially patients who are women, are constantly brushed off in the medical world and not taken seriously. Children don’t have a say in medical decisions as things are signed off by parents, so my goal is to empower parents with information that (most of the time) there is more than one solution to what your doctor is telling you to do.
I want to be the healthcare professional that I needed at 12. Western medicine let me down at a young age, so I want to help other children and teenagers avoid more damage. I want to help women who have been let down find relief through lifestyle, supplements, and diet just as I have.
Remission is the best gift I have ever been given, and I feel like it would be selfish for me not to share the knowledge and joy I have gained from finding solutions.
I want to teach others how to listen to their bodies and do what feels right for them. Every person is different and everyone has different needs. Conventional and natural medicine is BOTH needed for different reasons and it’s different for every person.
Every person is a puzzle. You just need to pull from the two different piles (western and natural medicine), and connect your personal puzzle.
